【英語】A storm like tyhoon hit Tokyo!!

Such a big storm hit Tokyo,
though none of my colleagues left at once.
I don't know why and I could find traditional Japanese attitude.

Sometimes I like this attitude,
but in this case I think we should not do this.

We should leave and tell our family we are safe,
because each family and partner might be worried.

【英語】一瞬考えるワード

I forget meanings of some words sometimes.
so I gotta make the list of them.
(It is a small part of them all)

(1)no longer
It means "not as formally now"

ex)
I'm no longer your boyfriend.
I like no longer you.

(2)before long,It's not long before
both of them mean "soon".

ex)
she will come before long.

(3)as long as
it means as much as "provided"
would better regard this word as if + some requirements.

ex)
I can see you as long as you forgive me.

(4)nothing but
It means nearly "only".
how you get easily to learn,that think it
as double negative meaning, so negative mean of nothing is just only.

ex)
I wanted nothing but love.

(5)for,because,so
all of them mean "reason".
Be careful when you will use "for".
"because" and "so" is available to put sentence first,
but "for" is unavailable.

ex)
I will not go outside,for it snow.

(6)while,during
both while and during mean "period of time"
but during is as preposition.so you have to put noun after "during".

(7)by,until
"until" means "continue to do by the point in time"
most important thing is NOT to use some word explain future
such as "will" and "be going to" within "until" or "before".

ex)
wait here until I come back.

"by" means often "the point in clock time"

ex)
please finish by 9 a.m.

(8)It is XXXX of XXX to XX
"of XXX" means value about XXX.

ex)
It is kind of you to help me.

in similar case,"It is XXXX for XXX".
"for XXX" means XXXX to XXX.

ex)
It is hard for me to decide.

【英語】とりあえず

When you can't say pretty damn quick,
you'd better say "for the moment" or "for now".

for example,
in restaurant,waiter say
"Did you decide?"
"I would like a glass of bear for now."
You can use this word like this.

I think I often say this word,
coz my blood type is A..
I don't give a shit.

(a lot of Japanese are feeling that persons of
blood type A have indecision totally.
and almost Japanese's blood type is "A"!!

【英語】〜以外

When you want to say
not including and counting something,
you'd better say "other than" or "except".

These are almost same meanings,
but there is little difference "other than" "except".

exactly,"other than" is more positive than "except".
but It doesn't matter at all,
It is important not to forget.

I have nothing to do other than sleeping now.

【英語】使役

I learned causative verbs in office English training today,
Kind of causative verbs is "make","get","have" and "let".
Those are so famous(basic),right?

I suppose "let"is most famous verb,for example of expression,you say
"let me see",when you are going to think about something,
"let me know",when you want to get some answers.

strong ordering of causative verbs is
make > get > have > let

How to express causative in English grammar is
S V O V
first verb position is in "make" or "get" or "have" and "let" as I noted before,
then you have to put in a bare verb in second verb position.

In particular case
Only when you put in "get" in first verb position,
you have to put into "to V" instead of a bare verb on second verb position.


Next,
causative verb is useful to express passive condition,
for example,"I got my watch repaired".
How to express causative passive in English grammar is
S V O PP
but in this case,
you don couldn't put in "make" and "let" on first verb position.

It is easily to study together!

I'm studying English sometimes for communicating.
so I'd like to post useful phrases in this category,
of course here is English only.

today's phrase is to useful for your payment situation.
When you want to pay a bill,
you have to say "It's on me"right!
and when you want to share,
you have to shout "split the bill".

Though I won't get opportunities to say "It's on me",
I try to keep up so that I can say so haha.

When I was a child,
I could keep straight naturally.

why?

entries having "英語" is written by English.
and I want to write in English.

Since I tried to study English,
I have changed from JP to US in
famous Japanese portal web site like a "MSN" or "YAHOO"exactly .
I think that the movie on "MSN" is so useful to listen to English.

This channel of MSN has gossip and sports in US,
and so many AD.

All what I need is to talk with native speaker.
because I can't really make sure what they were speaking in LA...

My friend who is from Ireland is maybe going to come to japan
at DEC or FEB next year.
so my goal is to become good speaker
that could talk with him fluently.

We held english party again in Roppongi.
it is lot person than 1st time.
my pleasure!!

but I almost speak wrong english as ever.
longing to be cool speaker ASAP.
so I'll do study harder than im doing.

in next month,I'll go to LA to attend SIGGRAPH 2010.
worried about my talking..

but I have confidence to fit in surroundings.
